What’s up everyone? Thanks for checking out this week’s Ferate 5 newsletter that dropped on Wednesday the 31st! My two favorite parts were Taylor Rooks’ three lessons about interviewing and training for calm. If you haven’t checked it out here is the link!
Episode 32 is the most recent episode of The Bryant Ferate Podcast! It featured Colin Walters, who is one of those humans that you feel like you have known for years!
Long story short, Henry Cheney (a great friend and former baseball student-athlete who I coached at the University of Portland) introduced me to Colin a few months ago! We instantly connected on creating art, podcasting, investing in our health, coaching, baseball, and being in that unique time in a man’s life 26 to 34 years old!
So we had to do it. You already know! Line up a time to podcast and record. The highlight of this entire thing was we were able to meet in person the day before the podcast because the Portland Pilots baseball team played against Oregon State in a midweek game! We got the dub! I was stoked to connect with Colin and take this picture as we were getting on the team bus to head back!

It was a sweet experience doing a joint podcast where we could go back and forth. I AM FIRED UP for a part 2, 3, and 4 in the future. Below are three things that I loved about the podcast! Make sure you check out the full episode and most of all check out his podcast, Seeds of Success which is linked below!
Three Lessons From Our Conversation That I Can’t Stop Thinking About!
1. Living into a Calling
Colin told several stories about how he has felt pulled toward creating a podcast. From how much podcasts have impacted his life and getting into sports radio back in the day. We both connected over life leaving us little clues that this is something we were meant to do. We both had our own version of people telling us “Man you have an announcer's voice” or “You have a voice for radio”. It was crazy and inspiring to connect over those moments of the universe giving us both a nudge & a wink to do what we are doing now.
2. The Impact of Podcasting On Our Day to Day Lives.
I was curious how hosting & creating a podcast had impacted Colin’s personal life. I LOVED HIS ANSWER and how he applied to it his sales job, building connections, and our relationships life.
Being a better listener and asking more thought-provoking questions. Well, shoot isn’t that what the foundation of deep meaningful connections and relationships is all about?
3. Layering The Creative Work.
This one is BIG TIME and I appreciated him sharing. Colin discussed his biggest skill, area of growth, and focus was becoming more efficient when editing. Being intentional with the entire editing process to creating a podcast, reel, and Youtube video all at the same time.
Instead of having to go through it multiple times. Intentionally spinning up 30 or 60-second reels while also cleaning up the audio & video of the conversation. Being ready to publish and schedule content quickly while keeping the quality of YouTube, podcast audio, shorts, reels, and a newsletter at a high level.
Thanks again for all the support in checking out the newsletter and the podcast! Please subscribe if you are curious in learning more about what I am curious about & building! It seriously amazes me and blows my mind how amazing the art of podcasting is.
Let me know what you love, what city you are reading this from, and if you discovered some value in this weekend’s quick recap of the podcast.
Best Day of The Year, Until Tomorrow.
