The Bryant Ferate Podcast #27 With Ben Wilson, Who Are You Trying To Be & How To Take Over The World.

Three things that I can't stop thinking about.

What’s up, I know you all have episode 27 of The Bryant Ferate Podcast with Ben Wilson queued up on Apple Podcasts or Spotify to listen. Or like most of you reading this you have already listened to it, shared it with someone, and checked out Ben’s podcast How To Take Over The World. But if you are one of the few who haven’t here is the LINK.

First off, Ben’s podcast is legit. He goes all in on biographies and tells the life story of the greats. One of my favorite parts of the podcasts is he is always looking at both sides of conflicts, decisions, and history. The best part is his mental model for who to research, who did he wish Tim Ferriss would interview dead or alive? Make sure you check out his podcast, my favorite episode right now is the Walt Disney episode.

Three things I can’t stop thinking about from my conversation with Ben Wilson…

21:40 Who Are You Trying To Be?

  • All the greats can answer that question. Who’s the hero you are trying to be like? Who is your north star?

    • Steve Jobs be like Edwin Land

    • Cesar be like Alexander the Great

    • Napoleon be like Cesar

  • They all knew exactly who they were trying to be. It is so much easier once you know I’m on this path. Don’t kid yourself when you are on that path. Do you really want to be like them? Gut-check yourself. Does your path match up with that?

  • Step 1 - Do Identify who you want to be and gut-check yourself

  • Step 2 - do everything they did, Don’t have to keep doing it just at least try it. What was important or just a quirk? Only deviate when necessity dictates; if it doesn’t work for you, you can safely discard it.

32:00 Life Changing trip to Victoria, BC & Meeting With David Senra

  • Mentors are overrated and peers are underrated.

  • David Senra's impact as a peer changed his life

  • David Senra is the host of the Founders Podcast which has a similar biography, storytelling, and solo podcast host style.

45:00 Always Have An Angle. What’s Interesting?

  • Shaan Puri & Sam Parr always have an angle and a radar for what is “weird”.

  • Always asking, what’s interesting, what’s different about this? What is weird? A radar to find an angle on this business or a specific thing. It is human nature and natural to discard the weirdness or interesting angle and focus on the commonality.

  • For example when all three visit Mr. Beast. Most people would focus on the normal stuff of Wow this place is huge and you are doing awesome stuff.

  • THE WEIRD or ANGLE - Mr. Beast created an agency to translate creators’ content because the majority of the world’s population doesn’t speak English.

Let me know what you think about the podcast, what you loved, what you disagreed with, and any other feedback on the updates to the weekly newsletter. SPECIFICALLY THAT FIRST QUESTION. Who are you trying to be?

You all are amazing! Appreciate all the shout-outs, texts, and for checking this out!

Best Day of The Year, Until Tomorrow…
