Honey, I’m Home!
Welcome back to another week of Ferate’s 5. This is a featured article from my new project The Daily Deposit. This is one of my favorite pieces of writing I have ever written so had to share it here. All about investing in yourself and making Daily Deposits in the relationship/connection bucket today
Let’s go! Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
Thank you for checking out the 14th Daily Deposit and supporting the newsletter by subscribing. Today is a special one because Shaan Purri and Tony Robbins both put words to one of my most important core values. Let’s get into it so you can start putting it into action today.
What are the first 60 seconds like when you get home from a long day at work?
What is the first minute of your interactions like with the people who mean the most to you?
“Honey I’m Home Energy” enters the chat…
What is “Honey I’m Home Energy?
It is taking control of your emotional state. You bring enthusiasm to those first 60 seconds when seeing the people who mean the most to you! THAT IS A DAILY DEPOSIT THAT PAYS INSANE DIVIDENDS. It makes all the difference.
Think about it within your relationship. After the honeymoon period, you start to come back to your baseline, your everyday norm, or as Shaan says your emotional home because nobody farts on a first date.
“If you did what you did at the beginning there would never be an end.”
Tony Robbins explained the power of enthusiasm. Enthusiasm can be trained just like an athlete working out all the time and training their skill on the field. A daily deposit of genuine enthusiasm for 60 seconds can change your entire life.

What changes your partner and your life is altering your state. Long day at work, got blown up by your boss, you are stressed about a project, got stuck in traffic, someone cut you off, your hangry, the list can go on and on and on and on…. The key is you can’t do things when you feel like it or we would never be the best we can be.
When you get home there are times when you might be like “Man I just want to crack a cold snack and have a beer, watch some sports, and go to bed.” THE REAL QUESTION is that the energy you want to bring to the most important people in your life? Your partner, your friends, your family? NO CHANCE.
“When I come home I want to make a difference,” said Tony Robbins.
So Tony started to practice, hone his craft, and improve the skill of changing his state to be more enthusiastic. When he gets home he says “Honey I’m Home!!!” and embraces his wife every time. He shared the story that he did not enjoy the experience of wondering whether his 4th father would be in a good mood or bad when he got home from work. Having to tip-toe around until he knew exactly what emotional state his father was bringing home.
Is that what you are subconsciously creating in your own life? Is that what you want?
This is a core principle in my own life that I did not know how to describe until I listened to Shaan and Tony Robbins discuss this. Enthusiasm is a competitive advantage not only in sports but in how you experience life altogether. The skill of being able to change your state, be intentionally consistent, aware of how your energy impacts others, and most importantly not letting external circumstances impact how you treat the people that mean the most to you.
Think about it for a second… What if the energy you bring made every day feel like Valentine’s Day? Why only bring that level of intention to the halfway point of a day in February and that one moment after Super Bowl Sunday?
So the next time you see your partner, friend, family member, or student-athlete you coach BE STOKED, drop your version of “Honey I’m Home!”, and bring energy to the first 60 seconds of your interaction.
That’s called magic. That’s called a Daily Deposit. They both compound.
Thank you so much for reading, supporting, and sharing the Daily Deposit Newsletter! Wishing you all love and consistency. Keep stacking those Daily Deposits toward the person you wish to become and make every day the best day of the year until tomorrow…
