Figuring It Out, Gone For A Month, & College Women's Basketball.

Write in your iPhone notes. Write in your journal. Write in public.

WHAT’S UP! LET’S GO!

We’re so back! Newsletter is brewing, 70 degrees in Portland, and I am getting ready to get cooking.

Back from what? That’s the question. Marathon training and a ton of travel these past few months with the Portland Pilots Women’s Basketball.

WE WERE ON ONE THIS YEAR! Your favorite team’s favorite team. It was a sad close out to the season as we lost to Villanova in the elite 8 of WBIT (basically top 32 teams to not make march madness). Best season in school history going 31-5. Crazy crazy. A lot of core memories and a lot of travel. Starting the year with Croatia and Greece then…

  • Las Vegas for WCC tourney

  • I went to Salt Lake City & Park City to ski.

  • San Fran to beat Stanford Women’s Basketball in overtime.

  • New York & New Jersey (Dub against Seton Hall & kicked it with THE NOAH CRACKNELL)

  • And Philly (played Villanova)

All together I was gone 22 out of 31 days. So when I say we’re so back I mean the newsletter and I am back to in PDX.

ENDORPHINS RUN CLUB.

Writing & Wants… Today is about needing to write. I’ve been thinking a lot about what it is we all want, what you want. How people figure out what it is they really want, what they “want to want”. Clarity in what you actually want is a pretty sweet feeling. Hard to describe, easy to see.

How do I enjoy the process of “figuring it out” & not pressuring myself to “have it ALL figured out”. Less pressure, more action (& fun).

Writing journaling brain dump minimum 5 minutes.

Mental Shower = running (Training for Eugene Marathon & on a streak of working out every single day of the year so this one comes a little easier)

Then this. Writing in public to you.

Quote I have been thinking about:

In the absence of strong convictions about what you want from life, you will always default to wanting more money. - Jack Raines YoungMoney Newsletter

Book I am reading:

What You’re Made For. By George Raveling & Ryan Holiday. (Shout out to Brad Scott of the Atlanta Braves.)

Favorite podcast recently:

HIGH AGENCY: George Mack on Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson

What am I excited about?

Round 2 at the EUGENE MARATHON at the end of April, summer weather, and discovering more of what I want. Learning more about how others figure it out. Quick hitters here from recent conversations. Here are some ideas.

  1. Friend planned for years quitting his job and going on a 1-2 year sabbatical. Sending it to Bali to do a yoga retreat because he always had the itch. Stable sales job to taking the leap of faith to something very new.

  2. College baseball athlete, college strength coach, masters degree & full time coaching gig, self-taught Spanish, move to Spain, teacher in Spain & Philly, back to being a strength coach, & now an aspiring professional chef. This friend isn’t afraid to start back over on a different mountain. He’s a pro at going from 0 to 1.

  3. Good friend who playing professional soccer & coached collegiate soccer recently shared asked me if I had written any of this down. Dude has a wife, house, dog, sick truck, and so on… he’s checked the “typical boxes”… so what does he want? Now? Future? He’s made some moves so I called him for advice and he delivered WRITE what type of life you want (like actually write it out bro don’t just talk to me about it) 5, 10, 15 20 years down the road. Want do you want to do? What do you want you life to be like? Where, with who, and what do you want to do? Specific. A lot of mine trended towards others. Impact, connection, & community are big rocks for me.

If you been thinking about any of these ideas, or training for anything (marathons, working out every day of 2025, etc) let me know with a reply.

Best day of the year until tomorrow…
