The Internal Scoreboard: Do You Want To Be Great or Just Thought of As Great By Others?
Are you stoked about the person you became?
Recently I recorded a conversation with my great friend Matthieu Galizia. It was special for many different reasons. Long time friend at my favorite coffee shop (Cathedral Coffee), we recorded it in the coffee shop after hours on the table he made from a tree he cut down with his father, and I got to learn so much from these 3 hours.
In closing out the conversation he left us all with something that I have been thinking of often since recording in mid-October of 2022.
This made me pause and ask myself do I want to be great? Yes. Okay then for others or is it an internal game of being great for myself?

I think when I was younger I was a lot more self-conscious of fitting in, being cool whatever that means, and being accepted. I don’t deeply understand why I was concerned about what others thought about me but I remember having that feeling and wanting to “get better”. It is interesting even when I was little I remember wanting to improve and be the greatest version of myself for me. Something I will write about more to sort through.
This quote challenged me to ask…
What does it mean to me to be great?
Define internal greatness. (Internal Scoreboard)
What is inner peace? (Peace of mind & peace from mind)
Coming back to the question that Matthieu shared. Are you driven to be just thought of as great by others or do you want to be great and stoked about who you have become on your terms?
Define what “great” truly means to you then ask why 100 times. This is what I am going to do now thanks to Matthieu.
Best Day of the Year, Until Tomorrow…
