Looking Differently At The Top 5 People Who Influence You The Most.
Attributes, Why, & Exponential Impact Courtesy of The Danny Miranda Podcast.
We have all heard “You’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”
What if it isn’t all about the average? What if it’s more about the intention, qualities, and the why behind who makes it in that top 5? The attributes.
When you’re picking your team for noon ball you’re not just letting anyone join your team and join your starting 5. We are trying to stay on bro. Why not have the same ruthless selection of who you influences you the most in your life as you do when playing basketball and running 5s?

Here is the new look. Courtesy of Noah Kagen and Cliff Weitzman, two recent guests on The Danny Miranda Podcast.
Noah Kagen explained he calls them his council of wise men. In his pursuit to live his life the way he wants to, he re-writes the script of “You're the average of your 5 people you spend the most time with.” He explains each one has a clear component that he looks up to them. Skills of self-awareness, values-driven, relationship, and even just “damn how is this dude so happy all the time”. The intention adds clarity to your purpose to how this relationship is impacting you.
The same goes for you! What do you bring to the table? How are you delivering value to your relationships? Why are you in people’s starting 5?
Assess what are the intentions or components for these people to be in your top 5 of your life. Clear-cut reasons of how they challenge or empower you to be your best self. Dial in the “why” you are actively choosing for them to be in your 5 and the influence they have on you.
Cliff Weitzman added another layer to this process from his episode of The Danny Miranda podcast by explaining the importance of your number one. Number one is your partner, husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend with whom you spend the most time and who influences you the most! Cliff explains Number 1 can be exponentially more impactful & important than 2 thru 5 because of the amount of time you spend with them.
Right now who is in your top 5 or as Sahil Bloom would say, who made it to your Personal Board of Advisors?
Noah Kagen’s Framework: We must ask why? What component do they influence you the most?
Cliff Weitzman Framework: Shakes out the 5 to give clarity. What does the exponential impact of 1 look like for you at this moment?
Write, reflect, audit, iterate, and innovate.
Best Day of the Year… Until Tomorrow.
