Making Better Decisions & Asking Better Questions: How To Use The Four C's Framework During The Interview Process.
Character. Competency. Capacity. Core Values.
What are you truly trying to gain from an interview? Whether you are the one interviewing or conducting the interview it is an important question to answer. Especially, when attempting to master the skill of decision making. No matter the role in the interview, understanding the other's character, competency, capacity and core values can help you make better decisions.
Character: Who are they? Level of integrity and respect as human being. Morals, compassion, collaboration, and emotional intelligence.
Competency: Level of practical experience, application, skill set, career growth, impact, and qualifications. Effective previously and ability to be effective in this new role.
Capacity: Personal drive and willingness to grow, evolve, rethink, open-mindedness, curiosity, and dedication to being a lifelong learner.
Core Values: Alignment
Working backwards from the four qualities you can then decide what questions help you uncover information that is needed to fill these four buckets? The four buckets will help you understand how the applicant may fit within your team or how you fit within the organization if hired.
Questions and their answers should be adding in a way where the information helps in the decision making process. Not just asking to ask. Where the answers give you a glimpse into what they are competent in, capacity for growth, who they truly are, and what they actually value.
