Eugene Marathon, One Year Later, & Vibing With Recently.

Eugene Marathon… This week we’re sending it 26.2 miles and finishing in the historic Heyward Field. The goal is to hit a personal best, which currently sits at 2:59:23 from the Portland Marathon in October. Training block has been solid with working up to the most miles I have run in a week in a whileeeee (55 in a week). The speed work is the game changer for me. That was just something I didn’t hit in previous training blocks over the past few years.

Working to make history and ride that 6:45 train the whole race & help Rory break 3 hours!

Crazy what can happen in one year… Last year, +10 friends ran the Eugene Marathon. It was the first marathon for a lot of the fellas in the squad. That was an iconic weekend. One I will never forget for the rest of my life.

It does create a crazy reflection point. Where I was in my life last April compared to now. How much has changed, grown, and experienced over the past 52 weeks? The people I met, the opportunities that have popped up.

It makes you ask what will pop up this year? The path keeps unfolding as long as you stay open to it and keep taking action. Learn by doing.

Michael Gervais & Sahil Bloom repeat often this quote by Rumi: “When you start to walk the way, the way appears.”

Action. Action. Action.

What is the path you are walking? What are the core reflection points for you? I am not just talking New Year’s resolutions. For you, maybe it is your birthday every year. Let me know.

My memory works in weird ways. My brain breaks things down into weeks, training blocks because of coaching, and semesters because of college athletics.

What am I vibing with right now…

I would give $10,000 or more for this moment right now. Community, sunshine, golfing with the homies, training for a marathon is going smooth, jiu-jitsu, etc

More of a reminder that where you are right now could be potentially what you dreamed of a few years ago. I know for me that is true. Happier and more fulfilled in different buckets of life. Relationships, fun, & health. That 10k thought hit me as we walked off the 9th hole at Summerfield. “Man, a few years back I would have killed for this.”

G7 or Game 7 friends. The idea of who you would want out there as your starting 5 to go to war in game 7 of the NBA Finals. My boy, Nate Graham, donated some free games with that one. Who in your life right now is in that small circle?

Listen… It is more about listening than it is about asking “hey, how’s life?” or “how’s it going?” We mistake the ask as a sign that we care. Caring is taking one more step and listening to the response.

Daily Deposits… Journal, Meditate, Health Investment, Connect, Create, Stay Curious. Not a lot to dive into here, other than these are things I am working towards doing daily. Meditating and journaling are the two biggest areas I need to step up in. The Cs are where I need to be more intentional.
