Was Running 50 Miles Easier Than Hitting Publish?
"I want to help my friends become greater than they ever imagined."
Let’s go! What’s up!!! Happy December! Final month of 2025!
Alright, here is the deal
Been a minute since I last wrote to you! (Have a lot to share.)
Drank a little too much cold brew today.
At Cathedral Coffee right now, publishing this for you before I do my final tune-up run before the California International Marathon this weekend in Sacramento!
I ran a 50-mile ultramarathon in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah to start the month of October off hot. Was it tough? OH YEAH! Buttttt… the question I feel the most right now is why does it feel more difficult to sit down, write about my experience, and hit publish to send it to you? IDK, working on it…
FINISH LINE. The big 5 - 0.
Here is the deal.
My buddy Stetson Stallworth set up this year’s YouDaMan event, where men meet up to complete their “Kairos” or “Misogi” together.
Kairos is a Greek word for the moments in life that have elevated importance or stature relative to most.
Misogi is a Japanese word that describes a journey/challenge that creates a reflection and purification. Recently, been made more popular by Jesse Itzler & Michael Easter, the author of “Comfort Crisis”.
Long story short, I did it. Completed running the 50 miler at 7000 to 8500 feet of elevation over 14 hours and 29 minutes. The elevation was the greatest test of my will & belief in myself. It was part 2 of my 3-part Misogi of 2025.
Run the Eugene Marathon in April
Run the 50-mile ultramarathon at Bryce Canyon
Run the California International Marathon in December
The essential core part of my Misogi this year is to make self-investments. When we easily get distracted about career growth, how much $ other people make, comparing ourselves to others who are traveling, having kids, or getting married. This Misogi has helped me stay centered on investing in my health.
It isn’t selfish.
It isn’t all about me.
It is more about coming back to “loving myself like my life depends on it” because it does. Invest in my health so that I continue to be who I want to be and become more of who I want to become.
The core idea is to lean on health investments, running, and specific times of the year when my best is needed.

Reflecting On Lessons Learned.
Why is it easier to run 50 miles than to put things out in public? Writing, podcasting, and selfie videos of me talking became a lot more difficult over the past few months. Why? I don’t know, April I got into a really bad funk about it. Still do at times. (Thanks for being here because I am stepping back up to the plate.) Publishing day-to-day vlogs/reels and writing this article are two areas I have leaned into recently.
Confidence… How can I translate the confidence I had for my race into things I feel less confident about? I had ZERO doubt about being able to complete the 50 miler. ZERO! I also ran 100 miles in 2023, so experience is one thing that helps. Reps, exposure, previous evidence & proof that I CAN DO IT. Translating that confidence over is the secret weapon. I don’t mean all 100% of it. But can my running confidence share? Become a jumping-off point for other “difficult things”?
Connection is exponential… Running 50 miles while getting altitude sickness, my hands looked like balloons & winter mittens had a child, barely being able to breathe between mile 37 and 45, eating way too many Uncrustables, and taking over +100,000 steps. Connection pulls you through. I think a lot about how I ran with Logan Walters the entire time. My friend flew out from Charlotte for this... I can’t slow down, complain, or make excuses because I need to be the person he can lean on. We are doing (did) this thing together. I pull from others all the time, especially running. I want to be great. I want to help my friends become greater than they ever imagined. I have learned over the past few years that is one core component of what it means to be “Bryant Ferate”.
Create your own traditions… You want a Christmas tradition? Family tradition? , football tradition? Physical challenge? Do not wait for someone else to create it. Just do it. You do it. NOW! Traditions are magical. They make you buy into the silly stuff. When people shy away because they are “too cool”, lean into the cheesy stuff even more. It makes it fun and makes it memorable.
Life goes on, no one cares… Create value, impact others, become more fulfilled, and do things for yourself. Not in a selfish way, but be aware of why you are doing it. Invest in yourself because tomorrow, people naturally worry about themselves. They forget what you did, the fame, the fads, the Instagram notifications disappear, and you are left with your own memories. Left with your own personal narrative of how you see yourself. How much do you love yourself?
Shared experiences are the bread and butter of a fulfilling life. You also can’t lose yourself in it all, revolving around external validation, because in the end, it comes back to your internal state of how you feel about yourself. Not the number of likes, comments, fist bumps, or pats on the back.
Love you guys! This one was tough to publish, but I am glad I drank a little too much coffee and did it. Keep stacking those daily deposits and making every day the best day of the year, until tomorrow!
