Ferate's 5: May 2024 KPI's (041)

The Ridge Run, Relationship Density, & Momentum.

What’s up! Let’s Go!

If you are new here I write a monthly recap and share insight into what I am diving into for friends, family, and others interested!

Thank YOU for being here. Let’s get into it…

MAY KPI’s 📆

  • Miles Ran - 106.6 Miles

  • Total Steps - 476,551 (270.4 miles)

  • Resting Heart Rate - BAD (I didn’t wear my Oura this month)

  • Articles Published - 3

  • Podcasts Dropped - 4 (TRENDING UP)

  • Travel - Fort Worth, Bend, Las Vegas, & Pacific City

Wow! May came to play this year! Right off the bat, we got off to a hot start. Devin Kennedy, one of my best friends, made the move to Portland! We celebrated by strapping a mattress to the top of my car and getting him moved into the new house.

Strength Coach Reunion 🏋️

I attended the CSCCa conference (Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association) in Fort Worth, Texas to check out presentations and connect with old friends. I met up with the old Kentucky crew, Iowa family, and friends who coach all around the US. Crazy that it has been 10 years since I graduated from WSU and moved to Iowa City to intern. This conference is special because I get to connect with so many freaking people that CHANGED MY LIFE and continue to do so.

It also made me think about this idea I coined “Relationship Density”. More on that later…

10 years since being at Iowa. Chris Lowe & Eric Rash.

Portland Pilots & WCC Tournament ⚾️

I traveled with the baseball team to compete for the WCC title. We lost on the final day to USD in the championship which was a tough way to end the year. This was an unforgettable team. Benny P with a 3-run homerun, next pitch PING Brady Bean homer, and next pitch PING AGAIN Toglia hits one off the wall for an inside the parker and a 10-run inning… speechless one of the most insane moments in my career coaching.

This group was special because there are guys I’ve coached for 4, 5, or 6 years. Also, some guys have been on the team for 1 and it feels like I have known them forever. This group went about things the right away, having a ton of fun, dialed in, and loved each other.

The majority stayed healthy, individuals broke all-time records, and we won the most games in Pilots history with 37.

Other Sick Stuff 🛹

  • Traveled down to Bend, Oregon with the Eugene Marathon squad to celebrate Riley’s big 30th birthday and hit up Thump Coffee.

  • Ran the Backwoods Brewing Ridge Run. 10-mile race with 2,100 feet of elevation change finishing at the original brewery location out in Carson. Even their stout beer is named the Ridge Run. Elite mental challenge because it was difficult to gauge my running pace with that elevation change. Ran 5:41 & 5:44 miles (both downhill) to close out the race. Roughly 11th out of 150 (a few of the timing chips were dodgy)

  • Podcast with Isaac hit deep and got the momentum brewing for the podcast train to keep on rolling! We discussed letting go, self-improvement purgatory, podcasts being time capsules, and having the best year of our lives.

Articles Dropped ✍️

Podcasts Dropped 🎙️

Podcast game we got back on track! More brewing in the upcoming month. These four episodes were top! Make sure you check them out and let me know what you think!

Tracking 🗒️

I am interested in other people’s KPIs after I had a conversation when hitting a lift with Stetson (YouDaMan) and his dad. What habits do people choose to track and why? It is something I am reflecting on now that there are no more Cosube burritos and I want to track my progress in other areas. If I share it in public I think that will help.

  • Sleep duration Oura Ring

  • Training (Running, Lifting, Jiu Jitsu)

  • Leverage Action Items (Selfie videos, reels, shorts, etc)

  • Then a sleeper pick that I am tracking currently but not sharing yet

What are you tracking right now?

Relationship Density 🫡

Need to write and share more on this idea but I will give you a quick-hitting summary. Why are we closer to someone we spent 5 weeks with than someone we have seen every day for 7 years? At the conference it made me think how much I care and stay in touch with people I interned with for 3 months. How am I more connected to them, than people I see all the time?

I know, I know a lot of different variables here. I could give so many shout-outs when I reflect on this idea of density.

Would love to hear if that one resonates with you!

Thanks for tapping into the May recap. Little late but who is keeping track? It’s all about action. The only thing that is doing the thing is doing the thing.

With a ton of love. Keep stacking those daily deposits and making every day the best day of the year until tomorrow…
